Welcome and thank you for your interest!
The purpose of this experiment is to learn more about how we communicate with nonverbal sounds such as laughs and screams. You will hear sounds portraying different emotions or situations, such as surprise or fear, and judge their intensity.
I understand that all data will be kept confidential by the researcher, and I will not be asked to provide any personal information apart from my Prolific ID. I am free to withdraw at any time without giving a reason. The results may be published as long as the information is anonymous, so that no identification of participants can be made. By clicking the "Begin" button below, I confirm that I have read and understand the explanations, and I voluntarily consent to participate in this study.
Find a quiet spot to do this experiment and use headphones if possible. There will be 4 blocks (emotions) with several sounds in each, and your task is to rate the apparent intensity of emotion. To repeat a sound, click on the picture illustrating the emotion. If the sound doesn't fit the proposed emotion category, press the "skip" button.
Test your audio, ajdust the volume: No problems with playback? OK then, click "Begin"!
